2021-03-31 [Design · Course] Environmental Physics: from thermal engineering, sound and light to color science

Environmental physics is a basic design course that analyzes people's material and spiritual requirements for indoor and outdoor space of buildings from the perspective of physiology and psychology, and comprehensively uses design and engineering technology to create a suitable physical environment for people in indoor and outdoor environment design.

In contemporary environmental design, in addition to the use and aesthetic functions of the space environment, it is also necessary to meet the balance between the natural environment and people's own thermal comfort, vision and hearing from a scientific perspective; It is also necessary to understand and apply the environmental color and plant habitat in the design. The environmental physics course is to explore the best solution for environmental design based on time and place after studying the internal and external environment, thermal comfort environment, visual environment, auditory environment, color environment, plant habitat and other comprehensive factors of the space.

The course of environmental physics has interdisciplinary characteristics, including but not limited to building thermal engineering, light environment design, building acoustics, urban heat, humidity, wind environment, environment and plants, environment and color.
Environmental physics is a professional basic course for the third year of the Department of environmental art and design of the Academy of fine arts. The course of environmental physics is jointly taught by teachers from the school of fine arts of Tsinghua University, the school of architecture and Beijing Forestry University. Among them, the environmental thermal engineering is taught by Professor Song Limin of the Academy of fine arts, the environmental acoustics is taught by Professor Yan Xiang of the Academy of architecture, the light environment is taught by Professor Du Yi of the Academy of fine arts, the color science is taught by song Wenwen, deputy director of TASCII, and the plant habitat is taught by Liu Yijuan, associate professor of Beijing Forestry University.
