2011-05-12 CMF database framework for design

In collaboration with Professor Zuo Hengfeng from the Industrial Design Department, TASCII introduced an exciting project “CMF database framework for design”. This project takes a multidisciplinary approach (art, psychophysics, architecture and material science) and considers colour, material and surface finish as key components in design. Three significant outcomes have already been achieved:
1. Objective measurements and psychophysical data modeling.
2. Development of CMF database.
3. Identification of CMF database applications.
The research outcomes contribute towards the understanding between materials/products and users, the relationship between materials and art/craft industries, and the usage of colour, material, and surface finish in design. The CMF database framework is an important area in the design industry internationally.
